P.A. is a book about how an individual might go about
maintaining their own autonomy while still participating within
a given system. Contributions illustrate potential examples-
from the behavior of ants, objects that provide answers when
systems fail, coded computer language, and many others.
Rick Gribenas begins his introduction, "This book and CD
exist as a call to participate; the contributors articulate
what participating within systems can achieve."
The question at hand is the reconciliation
of the individual within a system, which in
her foreword Hannah Higgins traces in its
latest incarnation—that of cybernetics—to Niklas
Luhmann and Jurgen Habermas.
Contributions include essay-length text,
drawings, digital models, maps
and diagrams.
